SISA and APU Empower Yayasan Chow Kit Children Through Kids @ Golf Charity Clinic
Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) recently partnered with Soroptimist International of Shah Alam (SISA) to host the Kids @ Golf Charity Clinic, a heart-warming outreach programme dedicated to the children of Yayasan Chow Kit (YCK).
Held at 1 Club Drive, Bandar Utama, the event welcomed 22 children aged 6 to 12, accompanied by five YCK teachers and supported by seven APU Diploma student volunteers.
The clinic aimed to introduce underprivileged children to the sport of golf—often perceived as exclusive—by offering a fun, accessible, and confidence-building experience.
The initiative highlighted wellness, learning through play, character development, and inclusivity, aligning strongly with SDG 3 (Good Health & Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
This meaningful charity effort was organised in conjunction with SISA’s 30th Anniversary Celebration, coordinated by the APU School of Business and its sustainability-driven student club, Sustainable Future Fusion (SFF), led by Ms Cynthia Mala Paul Dorairaj, Lecturer and SFF Advisor.
Upon arrival, the children were warmly greeted and presented with eco-friendly goodie bags prepared by SISA members, using recycled materials contributed by member Elia. Filled with stationery, caps, and small toys, the bags reflected a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and thoughtful community support.

The golf session was led by the dedicated team from Kidz @ Golf Academy, headed by Fatin Amin, with Coaches Holly and Nas guiding the children through basic techniques, swing practice, and group challenges. Laughter and excitement filled the venue as many children experienced a golf course for the very first time. APU volunteers played a key role throughout the day, ensuring the children felt safe, supported, and encouraged.
SISA President Ms Fadzilah Yasin expressed pride in the collaboration, noting that the joy on the children’s faces reflected SISA’s three decades of commitment to service and empowerment.

APU volunteers also shared heartfelt reflections on their experience. Nur Qamarina Mohamad Nizam, a Diploma in Business Administration student, expressed genuine joy in watching the children learn, grow, and gain confidence. Her coursemate Mariam Maanna cherished the opportunity to support the children and appreciated the meaningful memories created throughout the day. Meanwhile, Rania Fathma Sarjis, also from the same programme, described the experience as unforgettable and deeply rewarding, emphasising how the children’s warmth and enthusiasm made the volunteering journey truly special.
The event concluded with light refreshments and a certificate presentation ceremony, followed by a symbolic pendant exchange between SISA and Kidz @ Golf Academy to commemorate the partnership and express mutual appreciation.
